Sports Injury Rehab in Burleigh Heads

Helping active adults recover from recurring injuries by correcting the way the whole body moves — not just treating the pain.

Make My Rehab Stick!

Sports injuries and recurring niggles are common across the Gold Coast—especially for active adults who juggle training, work, parenting, surfing, gym and everyday life.

The problem is that most rehab only targets the injured area, rather than the movement patterns that caused the injury in the first place.

At Burleigh Biomechanics, we take a whole-body, biomechanics-first approach to injury rehabilitation, helping you return to doing what you love—without the constant cycle of flare-ups, adjustments, taping or rest.

Why Injuries Keep
Coming Back

Most rehab focuses on:

  • Strengthening the “weak” muscle

  • Stretching the “tight” muscle

  • Rest, ice, massage or dry needling

  • Generic activation drills

The problem?

These only change the symptom, not the movement pattern that’s overloading that area.

Injury is rarely isolated.

It’s usually the result of:

  • Rib + pelvis misalignment

  • Overcompensation during load

  • Poor force distribution when walking, lifting or rotating

  • Breathing patterns that create spinal compression

If your movement pattern stays the same, the injury returns.

We use Functional Patterns corrective movement to address the root cause of your injury by restoring how your body coordinates as a system.

We help you:

  • Rebalance your pelvis, ribs and hips

  • Improve breathing + core pressure

  • Reduce compensation in the lower back or knees

  • Retrain how you walk, squat, lift, rotate and stabilize

  • Build long-term tissue durability and strength

This leads to:

✅ Movement that feels natural
✅ Less pain during exercise and daily activity
✅ Confidence returning to training
✅ Lower chance of re-injury

Examples of Injuries Our Team Have Supported

  • These injuries reoccur when the ankle is the first line of stability instead of the last. We retrain foot mechanics, knee–hip alignment, and whole-body balance so ligaments stop getting overloaded.

  • This injury is highly linked to rotational control issues in the hips. We restore proper tibial rotation and pelvic timing so the syndesmosis can heal without re-sprain cycles.

  • Recovery is faster when the body stops compensating around the injury. We support the healing process by stabilising the entire chain—not just the ankle.

  • Calves tear when the glutes, hamstrings and hip rotators aren’t absorbing load. We rebuild back-line engagement so the calf stops doing the job of the entire posterior chain.

  • Often caused by forefoot overload due to poor mid-foot control and pelvic rotation. We improve foot mechanics and redistribute force through the hips.

  • A classic pattern showing anterior pelvic tilt or poor hip extension. We restore glute sequencing, posterior chain balance, and rotational control to unload the tendon.

  • This tendon becomes irritated when the pelvis drops or rotates excessively during walking or running. We strengthen the glute-med/min in context of gait, not with clams or side-lying exercises.

  • Usually a rotation imbalance. We analyse your gait and rebuild your hip-pelvis mechanics to stop repetitive overload.
